On June 25, 2023, Samara, Russia, hosted two events organized by volunteers from the Adventist communities of the city: the 10,000 Steps action and the Perfect Man health exhibition.
On the last Sunday of June, in Samara's Metallurg Park, members of Adventist communities gathered to take part in the all-Russian health campaign 10,000 Steps and the health exhibition Perfect Man, aimed at attracting the city's population to a healthy lifestyle through simple walking.
The event was held as part of Youth Day, under the auspices of the events of the Kirovsky district of Samara. It was visited by more than 100 citizens of the young adult generation. There were many children and teenagers. It was inspiring that out of the fourteen members of the event team, six were friends of the church who had not yet become members, and of these, four were preparing for baptism. In this way, new churchgoers learn to devote their time to service and good works.
From the beginning, the audience and instructors held exercises, heard an introductory word about the 10,000 Steps action, and then walked around the park lake with sticks. Then people approached stands and banners, where youth and instructors talked about how important it is to lead a healthy lifestyle and form a positive attitude and approach. By the end of the program, the whole team felt joy from the fact that they managed to serve people and give them warmth and kindness. Many visitors were invited to the health club programs, Nordic walking, and cooking classes to continue their acquaintance with the principles of a healthy lifestyle.
The Adventist communities of Samara, through various projects, plan to acquaint people with the Word of God and invite them to the Bible school to take lessons. The church prays that in all the urban diversity of people, the Lord would find His followers.
“God is good and kind to us. It is a pleasure to serve Him, and I am happy to share His blessings with others,” says team member Ekaterina.
“I will participate in promotions and events for a healthy lifestyle. It was nice to meet the team of volunteers,” Viktor adds.
