A vessel fire has destroyed campaign equipment and supplies for the Solomon Islands for Christ evangelistic meetings in Rennell and Bellona, Solomon Islands, prompting an urgent call for prayer just before the campaign’s opening.

Equipment including a public address system, generator, fuel, and food supplies destined for evangelistic sites in Rennell and Bellona were lost when the MV Anjeannette caught fire early July 4 in Honiara.

According to Rennell district pastor Alfie Agikimua Chow, the loss is significant. “So sad that we lost all our equipment for Solomon Islands for Christ,” he said. “Please continue to pray for our sites during this time of crisis. Satan is working very hard to see that the three angels’ messages are not preached on our shores.”

Rennell and Bellona is the southernmost province in the Solomon Islands, located about 200 kilometers south of Guadalcanal.

The vessel fire is not the only challenge facing the campaign. Adverse weather has also prevented several visiting preachers from reaching their assigned locations in various parts of the Solomons.

Among those affected is South Pacific Division president Glenn Townend, who is scheduled to preach in Buala on Santa Isabel Island but remains in Honiara, unable to travel due to the weather.

These challenges have become a special focus of prayer during the South Pacific-wide prayer vigil. Church members across the Division have been praying for God’s protection, provision, and guidance as campaigns begin in the Solomons, Tuvalu, and Nauru.
